Every once in a while, cabinets get dirty. They collect grease and dirt from cooking. Getting in and out of cabinets to get dishes leaves oils on your hands. And like furniture, cabinets collect dust. I usually wait for a good spring cleaning opportunity to clean the cabinets inside and outside. We’ve used a lot of different products, but the one that we have found that works the best and smells terrific is Murphy’s oil soap. It is gentle on wood surfaces, and it is very good at dissolving oils that have collected on cabinet surfaces.

Bye, now your child is probably big enough to fit into a small pair of rubber gloves. Several child-size gardening gloves are entirely rubber that you can also purchase. Make sure that whatever gloves they use to fit their hands well. Get a bucket and fill it with warm too, hot water. Make sure that your child can tolerate the temperature with their gloves on. Then follow the directions for the recommended amount of product per gallon of water. With a microfiber rag, dip and ring it out and wipe down the inside of the cabinets working from top to bottom. Take out dishes if needed and put them back. Wipe the outside of each cabinet as you finish cleaning the inside.

This can be a team effort for you and your child at first. It also can be a team effort for siblings. Help them to observe the water and change it out as needed. There should be no draining required as the solution dries pretty quickly. But, if you need to dry out a cabinet shelf or the outside of a cabinet, use a clean microfiber rag or towel. This will prevent scratches, and the microfiber will absorb the water quickly.
